Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well. We wanted to provide you with an update on the proposed Highway 101 Rock Quarry. While we have not received confirmation that an appeal has not been filed, we feel it is safe to remove the "Stop the Quarry" yard signs. However, we ask that you keep your yard sign stored in case we need to fight again in the future.
Neal and I are amazed at how this community (Paulding and Carroll County neighbors) came together as one to fight for our community. We sincerely thank every one of you for your support and efforts in preserving our community to protect the agricultural and residential character of the area.
We will continue to monitor for any future developments regarding the proposed rock quarry and will keep you updated as we learn more. As a community, we have gained valuable knowledge about the individuals associated with NW Georgia Land Holdings, LLC, and their character. We are now better equipped to fight if needed in the future. After the unanimous denial from the Paulding County Board of Commissioners on September 10, 2024, the quarry developer attempted for a fourth time in a row to get a rock quarry approved near Adairsville in Bartow County. Fortunately, the Adairsville quarry was denied yet again by the Bartow County Planning and Zoning Committee in October.
Hopefully, NW Georgia Land Holdings, LLC will realize that the proposed site on Highway 101 in Paulding County at the Paulding / Carroll County line is not suitable for a rock quarry, and hopefully, they will put the land up for sale.
Regarding the Stop the Rock Quarry Facebook page, we will be changing its focus to a community page. Changing the focus will allow us all to stay connected and share community news or whatever you would like to share. Also, it will still allow us to provide updates on any future information regarding the proposed Highway 101 Rock Quarry and share other news that affects our area.
Moving forward, we must shift our focus towards the next election for Post II County Commissioner, which will take place in two short years. We need someone who will prioritize our community's interests over outsiders. Regarding Commissioner Sandy Kaecher, it is our understanding that she will not be running for reelection.
Once again, Neal and I are proud to be part of this amazing community, and we appreciate all of you. Also, we want to take this opportunity to say we hope you all have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
Talk soon,
Jay Purvis

Hello Paulding and Carroll County neighbors, as a community, we need to take action against the proposed Highway 101 Rock Quarry. This quarry will have a huge impact on our county and its residents, and it is important that we come together to fight against it. WE NEED BOOTS ON THE GROUND, reaching out to all high traffic areas in each of the four Paulding County Commissioners’ posts to pass out flyers. We urge all of our neighbors to join us in this fight and protect our community. To spread the word and increase awareness, a new flyer has been uploaded to our website, www.stop101rockquarry.com, which can be easily copied and distributed. Let's stand united and make our voices heard to stop this quarry from destroying our beautiful county. Together, we can make a difference and protect our home for future generations.
If you will let me know which high traffic area in Paulding County you will be targeting and which day, I will post it on Facebook, so everyone will know which areas have been covered and on which day. For example, please tell me the name of the business, its location and date / time of visit.
One of our neighbors, who has been a strong supporter in our fight against the proposed Highway 101 rock quarry, has come up with a brilliant idea to further our cause. She has suggested that each one of us reach out to 10 new people and ask them to sign our petition. By doing this, we can generate well over 1000 additional signatures. This is an achievable goal if we all come together and put in the effort. We must not underestimate the power of community and the impact we can make when we work together towards a common goal. Let's spread the word and get more people on board to support our cause. With every new signature, we are one step closer to stopping the construction of the rock quarry and protecting our community from its harmful effects. This is a call to action for each and every one of us. Let's make it our mission to reach out to 10 people each and encourage them to sign our petition. Together, we can make a difference and create a better future for our community.

We are a community of citizens who are working to preserve the rights of surrounding property owners to live peacefully without fear of unnecessary health issues and/or property damage.
This is the sign posted in front of proposed quarry site on Highway 101 in Paulding County, Georgia at the Paulding / Carroll County Line.
Join the fight to stop the proposed rock quarry on Highway 101 in Paulding County, Georgia. The quarry will bring increased noise, air pollution, and heavy commercial truck traffic; it will also negatively impact nearby property owners' quality of life, have far-reaching damage to homes from vibration/tremors caused by the blasting at the quarry, and have a negative impact on the local environment. Contact the County Commissioners to voice your opposition and help protect the rights of the community, preserve property values, and safeguard the health of citizens and the wildlife habitat in the area.
Blasting at a rock quarry creates invisible dust particles that are known to cause health issues such as silicosis, a progressive lung disease. It has been scientifically proven that long-term exposure to particulate matter can also lead to heart disease, stroke, infertility, and pregnancy complications.
When people breathe silica dust, they inhale tiny particles of the mineral silica. Over time, the silica dust particles can cause lung inflammation that leads to the formation of lung nodules and scarring in the lungs called pulmonary fibrosis. Over time, lung capacity decreases, and people with silicosis particularly those with Progressive Massive Fibrosis may need support with oxygen and other devices to help them breathe.
Please make sure that our County Commissioners in Paulding, Georgia, are fully aware that we do not want a Rock Quarry in our community that will lead to silicosis, heart disease, stroke, infertility, and pregnancy complications.
Rock quarry blasting can have a significant impact on nearby properties, causing various forms of property damage. The intense vibrations and shockwaves produced by the blasting can shake the foundation of homes or outbuildings, leading to structural damage. Furthermore, the force of the blast can cause cracks in walls, ceilings, and windows, compromising their stability and safety. Powerful explosions can also affect the alignment of doors and windows, making them difficult to open or close properly. Additionally, the blast can cause damage to pools, such as cracks or leaks, which can be costly to repair. The force of the blast can also result in cracks in drywall and plaster, leading to costly repairs. Overall, rock quarry blasting can have a significant and wide-reaching impact on properties in its vicinity, causing damage that will require costly repairs to restore the safety and integrity of these structures.
